  3. To Class of 73. From Keith Mathison, mathison@gocougs.wsu.edu. In case you would like to have a copy of my speech here is my speech at the reunion Saturday night:

"Thank you for the opportunity to speak to my beloved class. It is so great to see everyone! Some of you I have known from kindergarten or grade school thru high school! Walla Walla was an awesome place to grow up!

Our class was at a special time and place in history. Walla Walla was isolated from big cities in a good way. Families were stronger. Streets safer. Rarely did I hear of real crimes committed. I walked from one end of town to the other and felt safe. Most stores closed Sundays. I remember church bells. The life and character of Walla Walla was still influenced by the timeless principles America’s Forefathers wanted for every generation…Family, freedom, faith, morality, hard work, prosperity, and peace… the principles of the Bible. After High School we had college and careers of our choice before us.

So often I read in history books that the very next generation forgets the blessings they had, so I suggest that after 40 years it is our time to pass on to future generations the values that blessed us. Like selling a house will we pass on a well maintained, remodeled and improved society, or will it be distressed and plundered? I appreciate the story about the men of Issachar, in the Old Testament, who understood the times and knew what their nation should do. The people of America are called to do the same. We experienced great times growing up in Walla Walla and know how things aught to be, so we have a great reason to help carry the torch of liberty into the future. I am so thankful for the experience growing up in small town USA.

Please go out of your way say “Hi” to everyone you can before you leave. This time is precious. God Bless You All."

    1. Yes this is the same Jill Johnson you are looking for. I (D. Wood) dated Jill in 1972 and she at that time had an infant she called Hope. I too would like to connect with Jill. The last I heard (1990's) she was living in Long Beach Ca. with another old friend whom I would also like to reconnect with, Gary "Shotgun" Hawk. I heard they got married.

  9. Hi to all of the class mates of WAHI class of 1973, just a note from Robert Tingley still much the same ,but less lost.
You don't seem to notice what an influence your school years have in life till lived. The teachers, your friends and secrets you kept from your parents and maybe a parking lot fight but their was always a friend to help brake it up,water under the bridge of the creek that flowed through our great school. Going to a home game and hoping to see that girl you had a secret crush on .The school dances and the stories that inspired us. I still have my school annual with all your face looking out into the world.
I married my home girl we had 4 children all of it help form our life.
I'm Planning to attend the 50th ,hope you are to.
    Thanks to all of you...
    Rob.T.
